Question of Alice (02.29.2016): When sailors suffering from scurvy arrived at an island, the disease regressed and disappeared. Why?
Scurvy of the piratesA: Scurvy is a disease related to dietary deficiency of vitamin C, which causes receding gums, bleeding, and death.

This disease was widespread among sailors in the fifteenth to seventeenth centuries. It was in 1747 that we discovered that lemon cures scurvy.

It is true that when sailors arrived at an island they could fight scurvy, because they found enough to eat with the necessary vitamins to fight the disease.
